Laser Engraving
Here at Oslo Press, we use laser engravers to produce our wood veneer invitations. Laser engraving is a process that utilizes a computer controlled CO2 laser to engrave and cut our wooden invitations. The result is an engraving that exactly matches the design you see on the computer screen, as well as crisp cleanly cut edges (our invitations won't give you splinters, promise!).
Letterpress
Letterpress is one of the oldest printing methods used by humankind. Also referred to as relief printing, letterpress uses a raised surface to transfer ink to paper. By adjusting the pressure applied to the paper, one can alter the amount of relief or depth of the impression. While we believe letterpress creates a timeless print, we utilize modern technology in our letterpress process as well. We print with photopolymer plates in order to precisely reproduce the design for your invitation.
Materials
Wood Veneer
Wood is a beautiful and natural material. However, it is not uniform or homogeneous like paper. While we can guarantee you will not find any defects such as knots in your invitations, we cannot guarantee specific grain patterns. We have chosen to offer domestic hardwood veneers in order to be certain that we are not contributing to tropical deforestation. If there is a specific species or grain type you would like to use, we can usually source them, so don't hesitate to ask.
Paper
We offer a variety of papers to choose from. We suggest printing on Crane Lettra, which is made of 100% cotton. If you prefer pastel colors or a soft deckled edge, we suggest using paper by Arturo. While Crane Lettra comes in a variety of whites, Arturo is available in several pastel colors, along with matching envelopes. Both companies offer high-quality, highly textured papers which are well-suited for letterpress. For further inquiries about paper and envelope selection, please feel free to contact us.

Ink
At Oslo Press we use soy-based inks for a number of reasons. The soy oil used in the inks offsets the use of more petroleum based oils. This means they are better for the environment than other alternatives. The use of soy ink also greatly reduces the amount of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) that we all inhale. We found that there were no performance advantages to using traditional petroleum based inks, and given the environmental and health benefits of soy-based inks, the choice was obvious. Below you will find our selection of ink colors. However, we are always willing to mix custom ink colors for our customers.

Order Process
We suggest you start the process by exploring our collection of invitations. Make notes of what you like, what inspires you, and what you can do without. You may find a design that works perfectly the way it is. In this case, you may only need to personalize the text. However, you may find a design that you like, but wish to change the color of the ink and/or the font. This is where customization comes in. Just let us know what you would like on your invitation, and we will do our best to suit your needs. Further customization is available if you would like to use your own design or would like for us to create a new design for you. Please contact us with any questions regarding customization so that we can better inform you of time and costs.
Samples
Before making any final decisions, it may help you to order a sample. Each sample set costs $10 and includes an invitation, outer envelope, reply card, and reply envelope. If you choose to order your invitations from Oslo Press, the amount spent on purchasing samples (up to $50) will be subtracted from the overall cost of your order. We have only a limited supply of samples available at any given time. For this reason, we can not guarantee which design you will be sent. If you would like to receive a particular design or color combination, feel free to contact us and we will try our best to accommodate your wishes. Contract
Once you have decided to purchase your invitations from Oslo Press, we will send you a PDF contract that must be printed, signed, and returned to us before work on your order can begin.
Deposit
A $500 deposit must be made to Oslo Press before work on any order can begin. This deposit is subtracted for the overall cost of your order. In the event that you change your mind and decide that you are no longer in need of our services, the deposit is non-refundable.
Design Process
After the contract is signed and the deposit is made, the actual work begins on your individual invitation set. After initial design decisions are made, a proof will be sent to you in PDF form. Based on client feedback, any desired changes will be made. You will receive two more proofs in addition to the initial proof. The first three proofs are free. Each additional proof, if needed, will cost $25. Final proof approval is needed by the client. This will be done so through e-mail, as well as a follow-up phone call. Oslo Press will not begin producing your invitations without a final proof approval. This approval assures us that you, the client, are 100% satisfied with the design of your invitation. Any changes made after the proof approval will incur additional costs. Additional costs will be decided on an individual basis and will be influenced by the type of change or changes and any possible delay created by such changes.
Payment
Once the final design is approved, the order must be paid for in full before the printing process begins.
Printing Time Frame
Approximately 6 to 8 weeks should be allowed between the time the order is placed and the delivery of the final product. The length of time may vary based on factors such as the speediness of communication as well as the number of proofs needed. For instance, a full custom design may require an 8 to 10 week time period.
Rush Orders
While rush orders are possible, the time it will take to complete a rush order will vary depending on such matters as amount of customization and number of proofs needed. A 2 to 4 week rush may be possible if we are not extremely busy with other orders. All rush orders will be increased in price by 25% of the original order price. Please contact us for further information on the availability of a rush order.

Custom Design
If ordering a basic invitation set (invite, reply card, outer envelope, and reply envelope), a fully custom design will include 2 free hours of design time. Extra items not included in a basic set will include a half hour of design time per each additional item. All additional design time will cost $50 per hour. You may choose to have us create a completely new design for your invitation or you may choose to use elements from an existing design of ours. Whatever the degree of customization, we are happy to work with you in creating the perfect invitation for your event. Envelopes
Extra Envelopes - We automatically ship 15 free outer envelopes with every order. This is to ensure that there are enough extra envelopes in case there are mistakes made during the addressing process.
Early Envelopes - If time is a concern, envelopes which are not being printed can be shipped early if need be. The price of shipping will be added to the overall cost of the order. If envelopes are being printed, they can still be shipped early. However, a rush charge of $25 per 50 envelopes will be applied. In this case, both the price of shipping and the rush charge will be added to the overall cost of the order.
Extra Inner Envelope – Our standard invitation set includes only an outer envelope and a reply envelope. A third inner envelope can be added to each set at the cost of $1 per invitation set.

The above prices include one and two-color printing. Please note that the above prices do not include the cost of shipping. A 7% sales tax must be added to all orders placed by residents of the state of North Carolina.

Additional Design Fees:
When ordering an existing design from our collection, no additional design fees will be charged for the basic invitation set (Includes: invite, reply card, outer envelope, and reply envelope).
If you order a basic invitation set and wish to have it fully custom designed, the base cost will include 2 free hours of design time. Any additional design time will cost $50 per hour.
Extra items not included in a basic invitation set will include a half hour of design time per each additional item. Any additional design time will cost $50 per hour.
FAQ
How much does it cost to mail one of your invitation sets?
A full invitation set including 1 wood invite, paper reply card, outer envelope, and reply envelope costs 58 cents to mail. A 3×5 save-the-date card in wood, plus envelope, costs 41 cents. It also costs 41 cents to mail a 3×5 paper save-the-date with an envelope.
Do you ship to countries other than the United States?
Yes, we can ship to countries other than the U.S. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about shipping rates. If you wish to place an order from another country, it is best to allow an additional 7 days for the turn around time.
Can I order wood invitations and outer envelopes without ordering reply cards?
Of course! Our products are available for purchase in a variety of combinations. If you have any questions regarding pricing, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Can I order an item which is not listed on your price guide?
Yes, we are very flexible and your options are not limited to the items listed on our price guide. Other possible items include baby and wedding shower invites, place cards, small favors and more. If you are interested in a particular item, please don't hesitate to ask us.
I am planning a corporate event. Can I still order from you?
We welcome orders for corporate events. Please don't think we are limited to weddings only.
Can I order baby announcements?
If you decide you would like baby announcements, make sure you contact us at least a few weeks in advance. That way, you can decide on materials, design, colors, etc. If the details are taken care of in advance, then we will be ready to complete your order after the arrival of your new baby. Please allow at least an additional 7-10 days for us to complete and ship your order.
